I just finished taking a motorcycle class this weekend. It was fairly intensive and difficult for someone who has never ridden a bike before. Fortunately, I passed. The class consisted of about 8 hours of classroom time and about 10 hours of hands-on training on a range. At the end, we were tested using hands-on exercises as well as a written exam.
The class was offered at the Fox Valley Technical College. They provided all of the necessary equipment (I would recommend at least having your own helmet). The instructers were very good, though the class was somewhat exhausting. I thought it was a bargain for $161. In Wisconsin, you can either take a road test through the DMV or provide a waiver from a certified training class. I chose to take the course because I thought I would have a greater chance of passing.
If anyone else is considering taking a similar course, it may be beneficial to get your temps first so you can practice on the motorcycle before class. I passed with zero previous experience, but I think it would have been much easier if I had some practice beforehand. Then again, if I can pass, anyone can.

Is this so you can buy a motorcycle to save on gas or have you always just wanted a license? My dad’s got a harley I’ve been tempted to ride, even though I don’t really like motorcycles, I respect them.
I’ve just recently begun to think it might be fun to buy a bike. I’ve never been a motorcycle guy, but thought it might be interesting to try. Wanda wants to get hers, too, but the class was full.
